What you're saying:
This letter is written on behalf of Dr. Eric C. Ma who has been my Oncology doctor well over two years. Dr. Ma truly has genuine concern, care, and compassion for me as well as all his other patients. He takes the time out of his very demanding schedule at least once a week to call and check up on me...He never fails to remind me that I can come to see him if needed and gives me the reassurance that he will make time if any emergencies arise... he personifies what caring, compassion, and consideration of health care professionals should represent throughout all medical facilities. Dr. Ma, you are a superb professional!
I had a colonoscopy at Castle Point yesterday, and I wanted to write to you to let you know how professional, caring, and friendly your staff was to me. They were all great from before the procedure to the time I left Castle Point...those involved that I remember were: Dr. Elliott Mitnik, Dr. Lieblich, Ms. Caroline Vogel, Ms. Janet Eckerson, and Mr. Eugene Baybay. Just so you know, I have been going to the VA since 1997 – first the Bronx VA... now at the Montrose campus, where Dr. Usher has also taken great care of me. Have a great day.
My purpose in writing is to acknowledge the excellent, skilled care and treatment I received during my hospitalization...after I was admitted on an emergency basis. The nurses and doctors were compassionate and attentive – they made me feel very important. I was most impressed by the professionalism of the attending nurses, particularly Geneva Burris, Shamika Beviers, Henry Martin, and others. They went above and beyond to ensure my comfort and care. Dr. Patel, Dr. Shah, and Dr. Sundaram worked conscientiously to understand what was causing my body to undergo increasing distress. Dr. Elliot Mitnik and his nurses, Kimberly Murphy and Dorothy Wilson, were part of my aftercare…He and his nurses were very compassionate and understanding. It is with much gratitude and appreciation that I extend my heartfelt thanks to the doctors and nurses of Castle Point who helped me heal. I have listed all the staff I was able to identify. I hope I didn’t forget anyone!
My wife and I wanted to let you know how helpful the VA Hudson Valley Health Care System at Castle Point has been for me. Because of outstanding services offered by this program, I have been able to comfortably and safely remain at home. Everyone that we have dealt with has gone above and beyond the call of duty. They are caring, considerate, and kind in all of their dealings with us. There is one person we would like to mention specifically: Shane D. Henderson, PT, DPT, my Physical Therapist. We would like to thank the Hudson Valley VA for providing all these valuable services.
In this age of such high negativity and poor publicity, I would just like to take a moment to tell you of the very commendable and, I feel, exemplary support and care I continue to receive at the hands of Dr. Kandala, my primary, and her Nurse Assistant. They make a great team together and have made my life a lot better as a result of their care and attention to my medical needs. Please pass along my thanks to the both of them.
I had to write this letter as I am fed up with all the bad news we hear every day about the VA. I have been in the system for a good while and... I have always been treated with respect and professionalism, from check-in to blood taken, Dr. Connolly and all other professionals, and more recently…Dr. Wang, the Optometrist. I believe there is too much attention paid to the complainers who make the most noise and get the most attention.
This past week, I visited Castle Point VA campus for my annual eye and hearing examinations. Please convey my heartfelt thanks to the professionals on your team who did such a wonderful job. Intern Jeff Enos of the Ophthalmology Department conducted my eye exam. The thoroughness of this checkup was as good as any I have received anywhere. Jeff’s explanation of procedures, answering of my questions, and care throughout conveyed superior competence and trust. Thank you. Dr. Jackie Lynn Chiger conducted my audiology test. Her competent, professional yet delightful spirit and encouragement in the use of hearing aids continues to impact me for the better. In part, Jackie Chiger’s instructive care is directly responsible for this improved state of hearing. Thank you. For me, to walk the hallways of Castle Point campus, with their highly burnished, glossy floors, and to interact with staff members throughout the facility is a grand experience. Thank you for fostering such an atmosphere of competence and genuine care.
I would like to take a moment to respond to the enclosed survey about my recent experience with the Orthopedic appointment at the Castle Point facility with physician Harvey Seigel. I found the doctor’s bedside manner, knowledge, the ability to explain my condition and treatment options to be outstanding; an A+. It is my opinion that I’d be hard pressed to find a better doctor anywhere else. Other recent appointments with Podiatry, Optometry, Urology as well as my Primary Physician have all been excellent. I am very grateful and impressed with the treatment I have received thus far with the VA Hudson Valley Health Care System.
Please accept our sincerest thanks on behalf of our father … who was recently helped by your Transitional Care Program. In June of 2017, he was a patient at a nearby non-VA hospital. During his stay we met with your representative, Andrea L. Rodriguez, RN. We were very pleased to learn how this very valuable program was designed to help Veterans in this crossover situation. Speaking as caregivers and patient, this was a very much appreciated program and we were comforted by the care and compassion of Andrea as she helped us during the recovery period at home. The initial home visit helped put us at ease and reassured my father that the VA had his back. During subsequent weeks, we needed additional assistance getting some medication and needed supplies on a timely basis and, once again, Andrea did her best for us, as well as Sandy Dumeng, RN, when necessary. Their handling of all calls, no matter how busy their days were, always impressed us with calm reassurance and follow-up action. This...will always be remembered as a very positive experience during a most difficult time. We are very thankful to the VA for providing this service and to the caring staff who serve our Veterans.
Sincerely, Anthony & Family
I am a Vietnam Veteran who began to use VA services in August 2017. Since the first day that I applied for benefits at the Pine Plains, NY, clinic, I have been treated with respect and courtesy from the entire staff. Appointments have been scheduled at my convenience and I am seen on time or early for my appointments. Everyone at the Pine Plains clinic is professional, respectful and courteous. They are always willing to help me in any way they can. Follow-up calls and visits are done in a timely manner. I am writing to you because I believe the following individuals should be commended for their dedication and the outstanding service they provide for Veterans: Carla Wiles, MD, Barbara Mercatante, RN, Lorna Astacio, LPN, Maureen Marchessault, SW, Rosa Bates, Pharmacy, Shelly Hay, Optometrist, Alisa Leake, Team Associate, and Dr. James G. Gardiner, Podiatrist. I would also like to commend the Cardiology and Radiology Departments and Dr. James B. Fesko, PM&R, at the Castle Point facility...for the care they have provided me. I hope you will find the time to communicate my appreciation to these dedicated people.
I have been a long time user of the services of the VA Hudson Valley System. In contrast to the negative comments often heard from the press and inadequately informed politicians, I am very satisfied with the services provided by the VA Hudson Valley System. The doctors and staff of the Low Vision lab and the doctors and staff of the Pine Plains clinic… have provided excellent service…
I am writing to you today about one of your employees at the Port Jervis clinic. I have been going to the VA for a long time and this man goes above and beyond in his efforts to make sure the Veteran gets the best care that is possible at the VA. This is not just my opinion; it is the opinion of many Vets that go to the Port Jervis clinic. Please understand that all the employees at the Port Jervis clinic are first class at their jobs, but John McCloud just stands a head above all. Thank you… keep up the good work …
I have always found the courtesy and professional service to be consistently excellent. I have found that all not only provide the highest level of care, but demonstrate a sincere interest in the status of my health. While I cannot mention everyone, I would like to particularly thank the following individuals... Dr. Cantor, Audiology, Dr. Lancellotti, Gastroenterology, Dr. Cohen, Urology, Dr. Goldsmith, Cardiology, and Dr. Smith, Infectious Disease. Their attention to detail and explanation regarding my health issues contributed a great deal to my overall comfort and peace of mind. I owe my improved health to… their efforts. I am grateful they are in service to America’s Veterans and feel their dedication should be recognized.
My family and I would like to take this time to express our sincere gratitude and appreciation to the entire staff at the Montrose VA Hospital. We would like to personally thank each and every staff member for their dedication, exceptional care, and kindness that you showed to my husband… and to the rest of my family… Your warmth, generosity, and kindness that you showed mean the world to us. With your love and guidance, he became the man that everyone wanted to be with, and take care of, especially… Judy Vennee, Yvette Clark, Sandra Bryan, and Takoya Pierremont. You have all proven that the job that you do each and every day is more than a job, it is a calling… Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
It is with great pleasure that I take this opportunity to share how wonderful the medical staff who provide medical care to my brother… I am my brother’s health proxy and… Dr. Nadine Halko has been my brother’s physician for the past year or so… I must say that Dr. Halko not only welcomed me after my brother gave permission, but embraced the opportunity to explain in detail the outcome of blood tests and a comprehensive plan moving forward… Also… caring and professional…RN Carmella Abdul-Malik… in addition, Chauntelle Miller, who is the Advanced Medical Support Assistant, was welcoming, helpful, and respectful to anyone and everyone who entered that unit. After leaving each appointment, I walked away with a renewed hope and faith with the medical profession and that my brother’s medical needs will continue to be met.
This is… regarding the care, attention, and professionalism which I have encountered in my experiences with the VA in Beacon (Castle Point). Yesterday, I was in dire need of medical attention…I made a 2:23 PM call… which was answered by Diane DeRosia, LPN…Usually Felicia Muller, RN, answers, and is very professional, as is Dr. Kandala… and Diane proceeded to get me in and document my call and severity. From there, I had EXCELLENT care in the Urgent Care unit. Dr. Sexton was 100% focused upon helping me, initially relieving my … pain, as well as providing me ample tests to ascertain the reasons for my pain. Others involved…Kevin Burgher, the attending RN, was superb, as well as the Nurses in the unit. The X-Ray Technician (Janet Delgado) and the Sonogram Tech (Christine Ringgenberg) were very helpful and courteous as well. Overall, I have been the recipient of professional and seemingly attentive service in my visits to the VA.
I am a 77 year old Veteran and I have been going to Castle Point VA for many years. Recently…Doctors Dy and Cho were very helpful and recommended me for physical therapy…. …My therapist was Maryann Barnhart, PT. She is a dedicated professional and caring individual who genuinely wants to help the Veterans. She is a real asset to the team. Contrary to so many negative reports in the media, I found the therapy at Castle Point Veterans Hospital to be excellent….Thank you and God bless all at Castle Point.
I would like to let you know that I am very satisfied with my care at Castle Point…. I have found that all…have my best interest in mind. All these professionals worked together as a team. It is comforting to know I can rely on Castle Point to give me the best care because of the way that it is run…. Thank you for employing these special individuals: Perry Hartmann, KT, Jean Graf OTR/L, and Tracy Marino, COTA. I would like to thank you for defining excellence in the VA Health Care System.
