The National Veterans Wheelchair Games were held in Pittsburgh, PA August 1-6, 2011. Ten Veterans from Hudson Valley participated and won a total of 23 medals.  The team won 9 gold medals, 7 silver medals and 7 bronze medals.  This year, the team had two new Veterans join the team, Jack Terry and Alfredo Delo Santos.  Jack Terry won gold medals in bowling and motorized rally, Alfredo Delo Santos won gold medals in discus and javelin, a silver in shot put and a bronze in hand cycling.  Recently, there was an awards ceremony at the Castle Point campus of VA Hudson Valley Health Care System to celebrate the teams outstanding success at the games.
